Where is the Qualifying Tournament held?
It is held in Lakeland, Florida. Depending on the number of contestants, the tournament will be played on up to three golf courses in Lakeland.
When is the next Qualifying Tournament?
November 6 - 9, 2007.
How many players can enter the Qualifying Tournament?
A maximum of 312 players will be accepted in to the field.
What is the format of the Qualifying Tournament?
The competition will be a 72-hole event. The first, second, and third rounds will be played on all three courses with each player playing each course once. The final round will be played at Cleveland Heights Golf Course in Lakeland, the Tour's home course.
What yardages are used for the tournament courses?
The courses will play at approximately 6,300 to 6,500 yards.
Is there a cut made in the Tournament?
Any player who shoots 87 or higher in any of the first three rounds will be cut from the tournament field and will not receive status or be eligible to join the Tour in 2008. Following the third round, a cut will be made. The exact number of players who make the cut will be determined when the final field is set.
If I miss the 54-hole cut, will I still receive status and be eligible to join the Tour in 2008?
Yes. Players who miss the 54-hole cut will receive non-exempt status and be eligible to join the Tour.
How can I get an application for the Qualifying Tournament?
The application will be available on our web site, duramedfuturestour.com, after August 1, 2007. You may also call the Tour headquarters at (863) 709-9100, ext. 1 and one will be mailed to you.
What is the entry fee for the Qualifying Tournament?
The entry fee is $500 for 2007 Duramed FUTURES Tour members and $700 for non-members. All entry fees must be in U.S. funds.
Can I pay for my Qualifying Tournament entry fee with a credit card?
The Tour does not accept credit cards. Entry fees may be paid by personal check or money order.
Can I wire-transfer my entry fee?
Yes, wire transfers will be accepted. Please see complete information and instructions in the Qualifying Information section on our web site. All players who elect to pay by wire transfer must notify Kirsten Haake at the Tour headquarters by phone (863 709-9100) or via e-mail (Kirsten@duramedfuturestour.com) prior to sending the wire transfer. After the wire transfer has been sent, the bank receipt should be faxed to Kirsten at (863) 709-9200.
Will I receive confirmation of being accepted into the Qualifying Tournament?
Yes, confirmation will be sent via e-mail to the e-mail address provided on your application.
How many players get status at the Qualifying Tournament?
Approximately 40 to 50 players receive exempt status each year. Non-exempt status is given to the remaining players, including those players who miss the 54-hole cut.
What does it mean to have status and a ranking?
Each player is assigned either exempt or non-exempt status and a specific ranking, based on your finish at the Qualifying Tournament. Players are entered into tournament fields in the order of their ranking.
Can I attend the Qualifying Tournament as an amateur and then turn professional when the season starts?
Yes, provided you meet the Tour's age requirements. Amateur members may turn professional by the Monday of any given tournament week.
Is there any other way to play on the Duramed FUTURES Tour if I don't come to the Qualifying Tournament?
The Tour saves 3 spots in each tournament field for amateur or collegiate players who are ranked in the top-20 of GolfWeek’s collegiate or amateur rankings. Eligible players must submit a letter of request in writing to the Executive Committee of the Duramed FUTURES Tour.
Do you offer private housing for the week of the Qualifying Tournament?
Private housing in not available during the Qualifying Tournament. There will be a host hotel for the tournament offering special rates to players and their families.
Is there an initial membership fee once I qualify for the Duramed FUTURES Tour?
In addition to tournament entry fees, players pay annual membership dues at the time they join the Tour each year.
I am still an amateur, and as I am from another country, I do not have a USGA handicap card. May I include my handicap card from my country?
Yes. Documentation from an authorized amateur association in your home country will be accepted.
Do players walk or ride during the Qualifying tournament?
All players will ride and use carts during the tournament. Players may also employ a caddie, in addition to the cart, but players must ride and golf bags must stay on the carts at all times.
How do I schedule practice rounds for the Qualifying tournament?
Information on practice rounds will be published. To schedule practice rounds, players should call each tournament host venue Pro-Shop.
Are there yardage books available for each course?
Yardage books for each course are prepared by a Duramed FUTURES Tour member and will be available for sale prior to the Qualifying Tournament.
